Great Product, September 6, 2011 By Kevan Kumar "kurmakk" (Barrackpore, Trinidad and Tobago) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Sharp Electronics EL-W516XBSL Engineering/Scientific Calculator (Office Product) I have used Sharp scientific calculators over the past 8 years with no disappointment. I decided to replace my faithful EL 506. Its battery died 2 years ago and its been running on solar ever since, as I never got time to replace it (yes it works excellent under fluorescent light so it wasnt a problem). As I am an Electrical Engineering student, I find the features on this model to be quite useful for those in engineering in general(especially the complex & matrix modes). The user friendly interface allows you to easily navigate each menu and select the desired features. The Write View feature just tops it all off, surd form display makes life a breeze. No more mistakes in entering data - you see it as it is. I recommend this solar/battery model over the battery only model for obvious reasons..the battery can be dead and you're still going. Great product, great price, great buy.

My new standard calculator, October 20, 2011 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Sharp Electronics EL-W516XBSL Engineering/Scientific Calculator (Office Product) This review is for the EL-W516X. Amazon lists this as EL-W516XBSL, yet the picture provided shows the El-W516X. The immediate difference is that in the description, it lists 535 functions instead of the 516X's 556, but the review should apply to both.
Prior to this calculator, I used either a one-line view calculator or a graphing calculator. What I like about this calculator is that it is kind of in between these two extremes. I can do things similar to a graphing calculator such as scrolling back through entries but, of course, without the graphing.
This calculator uses a technology called WriteView allowing you to enter and display fractions, formulas, and functions as you would write them. It has a four line display and supports 556 functions, so it supports most of the traditional calculator operations. I won't bore you with the details; the calculator comes with two large, two-sided sheets - one sheet describes the functions, and the other gives ample... Read more

Seems same as ELW516, July 9, 2011 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Sharp Electronics EL-W516XBSL Engineering/Scientific Calculator (Office Product) I bought this version hoping that the matrix functions might have been "augmented" ( no pun intended.. OK pun intended! ). From what I can tell, other than a sleeker industrial design, this is the same as the EL-W516.
In any case, a great calc.
